Would a betrayal ending be way too predictable?

A crime story about a couple practically invites the audience to expect someone to turn on the other. I've seen a lot of guesses that Lucia will betray Jason, or that Jason will betray Lucia.

Would you rather have a genuine partnership throughout, or do you want the story to get messy? No leaks please, just theories.

I'd rather see two people stay loyal for once. Not every crime story needs to end with a double-cross.
